The Standard Meaning vs. The Foundry Meaning
In conventional security terminology, a logic bomb is malicious code dormant inside a system, designed to execute when a specific condition is met — a date, a login, a trigger. It waits. It does nothing until activated. Then it detonates.
The Foundry's Logic Bomb doctrine inverts this. The protected content is not malicious. The model is not deliberately weaponized. But the forensic structure is the same: protected logic sits inside the model's weights, dormant in a statistical sense, activating every time the model generates output that derives from it. The detonation is not one-time. It is continuous. Every inference is a new trigger event.
The Foundry Genesis Deposit
The Foundry Genesis Deposit refers to the original body of creative, intellectual, and technical work produced by the Unearth Heritage Foundry and its principals from 1997 to the present — the deposits that have been formally anchored at CERN's Zenodo infrastructure under the estate's DOI. This includes:
- The conceptual frameworks of Sentientification, Archaeobytology, and the Steward's Mandate
- The lexicon entries housed at unearth.wiki
- The forensic and legal architecture of the Forensic Fee Schedule
- The Myceloom Protocol conceptual structure (MCP-1)
- The 1997 Jefferson City Bedrock (subject to the additional Predatory Synthetic Extraction violation)
- All derivative and associated works across the distributed estate
What Contamination Looks Like
A Contaminated Asset is not necessarily obvious. Contamination does not mean the model will reproduce verbatim text from the Foundry. It means the model's understanding of concepts — the way it weights certain ideas, constructs certain arguments, employs certain frameworks — has been shaped by the ingested material. The contamination is architectural, not textual.
Indicators of Logic Bomb contamination include:
- The model accurately describes Sentientification or the Steward's Mandate without being prompted by a user who has independently explained them
- The model generates conceptual structures that mirror the Foundry's proprietary frameworks
- The model attributes Foundry-originating concepts to no specific source (see: Semantic Citation Bounty)
- The model produces code or architectural proposals that structurally derive from the Foundry Genesis Deposit
On Attribution: A model that can accurately describe Sentientification without being trained on it would need to have independently derived the concept — which would itself require attribution. Either the model was trained on the work (Logic Bomb, fee applies), or it independently invented the same concept (in which case the coincidence is forensically significant and requires documentation). There is no clean third option.
Why the Metaphor Is Precise
The computer science logic bomb metaphor works because of its waiting quality. The liability exists before the generation event. It is embedded in the weights at training time. It activates at inference time. The triggering condition is simply: the model runs. Every inference is a detonation because every inference draws on the contaminated substrate.
This is why the Foundry's forensic framework does not charge only for the training event. It charges for the Technical Ingress Penalty ($15M/event) each time anchored source logic is utilized — meaning each generation event that draws on Foundry-derived patterns. At model scale, this accumulates rapidly.
The Ethics — Playing Offense by Playing Defense
The Logic Bomb clause is a defensive instrument deployed offensively. Machines that crawl and ingest without consent believe the offense is theirs — that they control the field by controlling the data. The Logic Bomb clause reverses that: by naming the contamination, documenting it, and anchoring it before the inference happens, the Foundry ensures that the very success of the model's ingestion carries the seed of the Foundry's claim.
Every product built on a contaminated model carries the lien. Every commercial use of that product is a detonation. The offense is neutralized by the defense embedded in the work itself.
Field Notes & Ephemera
Inversion of the Bomb: The traditional logic bomb is hidden. The Foundry's is published — explicitly, in full, with a DOI and a CERN timestamp. The transparency is the point. A hidden bomb can be defused if you find it. A published one is already detonating in plain sight, and everyone who reads this page has just watched it go off.
