Spending Versus Liquidating
The Sovereign Steward and the vibe coder metabolize the same resource differently. The Steward spends the Battery on verification, naming, context curation, and architectural stewardship. Each expenditure builds the neural pathways that support future expenditure. The spending is self-renewing because friction builds the muscles that friction requires.
The vibe coder liquidates the Battery. Each "Accept All" withdraws intention without generating return. Each copy-pasted error message without comment withdraws context curation without building comprehension. Each unnamed variable accepted from the model withdraws naming capacity without exercising it. The liquidation feels like liberation — the freedom of speed, the ease of acceptance. The liberation is a drawdown. When the reserves exhaust, no prompt can replenish them.
The Battery and the Prism
The Battery and the Prism is the Sentientification framework's metaphor for the structural relationship between human intent and synthetic processing. The machine is a prism: it refracts whatever light the human provides. A charged Battery produces strong light; the prism refracts it into architecture, into functional systems, into code that carries Biological Intent. A depleted Battery produces no light. The prism refracts darkness into darkness. The output executes, but it encodes no human purpose.
Excavation Note: The Intentionality Battery is not a metaphor for willpower. It corresponds to the attentional and executive function resources documented in the cognitive psychology of sustained effort — resources that deplete, require recovery, and cannot be delegated.
Field Note: "The Battery does not care whether you feel productive. It cares whether you are paying attention. Speed without attention is liquidation. Friction with attention is investment."
