In strictly Archaeobytological terms, the Feed Economy represents a distinct sedimentary layer in digital history. It replaced earlier Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 structures—which prioritized chronological updates, explicit connections (e.g., subscribing via RSS or friending), and highly localized, topic-driven communities—with centralized, algorithmically-curated streams.
Within this paradigm, the user's agency was deliberately minimized. Authority and circulation were stripped from the users and handed to proprietary algorithms (Heterogravitas). To keep audiences glued to this Great Enclosure, the Feed Economy required the invention of the Vivibyte (the influencer), an entity that provided parasocial intimacy and curated aspiration. This effectively transformed human audiences into a passive Substratosphere.
Field Note: The Feed Economy was never fundamentally about connection; it was an extraction engine. It was built to monetize attention via advertising and to harvest behavioral data for predictive futures markets. Its eventual collapse—the Feedbreak—was inevitable once the psychic toll of prolonged exposure outweighed the dopaminergic rewards.
