/tuː ˈtɒpɪk ˈmæʃʌp/The hammer that breaks the search window.
Definition
A prompting technique designed to reveal the generative nature of AI.
The user asks the model to explain Concept A using the language/metaphor
of unrelated Domain B (e.g., "Explain Blockchain as if you are a
Medieval Alchemist"). This forces the model to synthesize a new
conceptual bridge rather than retrieving a pre-written explanation,
proving it is not a database.
The First Fracture
This simple exercise is often the "First Fracture" in the user's
mental model. When the machine successfully explains quantum physics
using the slang of a 1920s jazz musician, the user realizes:
this thing understands style.
Field Notes & Ephemera
Field Note: Search engines cannot do metaphor. Only
minds—biological or synthetic—can map the structure of one domain onto
another.
