The Collapse of Technical Moats
For decades, companies built moats on information asymmetry (knowing more than the customer) or technical access (SEO tricks). AI has drained these moats.
The Human Moat posits that Google and other gatekeepers are now forced to reward "signals of humanity" (Original Photography, First-Person Narrative, Video Evidence) not out of altruism, but because it is the only way to distinguish their product from the "slop" of their own AI creation.
Building the Moat
To build a Human Moat, one must incorporate "proof of life" into every digital artifact:
- Original, Imperfect Media: Stock photos are dead. Real photos with bad lighting are now premium signals of reality.
- First-Person Narrative: "I saw" carries more weight than "It is known."
- Demonstrable Expertise: Being a named, verifiable human with a history is a ranking factor.
Field Notes
The Shift: Authentic imperfection is now more valuable than synthetic perfection. The glitches in the Matrix are proof that you are real.
